“Bibi” was born in 2024 when Brooke Bryant (long-time professional singer/dancer/AEA actor) was reflecting on a conversation she had while sharing a cocktail with colleagues - all of whom agreed that musical offerings at special events, festivals, corporate events, and basically any time a cover band is hired have become rather predictable and… well… at times, uninspiring. Going to a wedding? You’ll hear the same 30 disco and R&B songs you always hear. Going to hear swing music? You'll hear for the same Sinatra greatest hits - again. Going to a jazz club? Same standards: different day.

 

Interestingly, at that same time, Brooke had just helped to move her sweet mother back to her childhood homestead. During that move, Brooke rediscovered her late father’s records. She grew up listening to his favorite records with him (Big Band leaders like Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, etc.), but her personal favorites were always the female singers: Sarah Vaughn, Connie Francis, Caterina Valente, Peggy Lee… the list goes on. She had forgotten how great those records were until she dusted them off and listened to them again, literally decades later.
